The Urban Developer is proud to present our Residential vSummit - a virtual conference focused on the impact of Covid-19 on Australia's residential property sector.

The vSummit will bring together industry leaders and experts to uncover the virus' impact on three major metropolitan areas - greater Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Program outline

1. State of the residential market: Yesterday, today and tomorrow.

In this series of keynote presentations, we bring together several of the country's leading researchers to unpack the current and future impact of Covid-19 on Australia's residential housing sector.

Each session will look at both the short-term and long-term impact that the pandemic will have on sales volumes, pricing, auction rates, rental demand, investment yields, new construction supply and more.

2. The developer crystal ball: What lies ahead for the residential sector?

In this series of interactive panel discussions, we step inside the mind of some of Australia's leading private developers to understand:

  • How Covid-19 has changed their outlook on the future of the residential sector.
  • What is their response to Covid-19?
  • Do they smell opportunity through chaos?
  • Or are rapidly deteriorating economic conditions a sign of major challenges ahead?

Each session will explore the current and future strategies these developers are employing to manage the uncertain times ahead.

3. Expert property predictions: Building beyond the pandemic.

In this series of interactive panel discussions, we bring together the trusted experts that are advising and investing in projects across the country.

  • What is happening with project funding?
  • How will sales channels be shaped by the virus?
  • Will construction prices go up or down?
  • How will planning authorities respond with policy?

Each session will explore the major issues central to the development of projects over the coming years.

4. Sustainability, resilience and adaptation in residential buildings.

The unprecedented events surrounding Covid-19 have prompted the world to radically rethink urban life. We are living and working differently. Our supply chains have changed. Global tourism and trade have effectively stopped. And our interactions with fellow humans has ceased indefinitely.

  • So what does this mean for sustainability and the role of buildings in the future?
  • What is the new definition of urban resilience and adaptation?

Each session will explore how these unprecedented times will create new opportunities for sustainable cities of the future.

5. Interactive case studies

Each of the first three days will conclude with a series of interactive case studies that showcase the very best of development from across Australia.

Projects and solutions that demonstrate excellence in their respective cities have been curated by The Urban Developer team.

6. Perspectives from the top: What can Covid-19 teach us about property, business and life?

2020 has made many of us rethink our lives - who we are, what we do and why we do it.

In this session, leading developers Don O'Rorke (Consolidated Properties Group), Adelene Teh (Beulah International) and Jonathan Hallinan (BPM) will share their perspectives in an open discussion moderated by Adam Di Marco, founder of The Urban Developer.
